Soft Baits

Shop premium soft baits in New Zealand for targeting snapper, kingfish, kahawai, trevally, and other popular saltwater species. Soft baits, also known as soft plastics, imitate baitfish, squid, and other natural prey to create realistic movement that triggers more strikes.

Our range includes proven jerk shads, paddle tails, curly tails, and specialised soft bait patterns in a variety of sizes and fish-catching colours. Whether you're fishing the Hauraki Gulf, Wellington Harbour, the Bay of Plenty, or your local estuary, you'll find quality soft baits designed for New Zealand conditions.

Looking for jig heads? Shop our dedicated Soft Bait Jig Heads Collection to match your soft baits with the right hook and weight for your fishing style.

Soft Baits NZ – Proven Soft Plastics for More Hook-Ups

Soft bait fishing has become one of the most effective and enjoyable ways to target New Zealand saltwater species. Unlike traditional bait fishing, soft baits allow anglers to actively work lures through the water column, covering more ground and enticing aggressive strikes from feeding fish.

Our range of soft baits includes realistic baitfish profiles, curly tails, jerk shads, and high-action soft plastics designed to perform in both shallow and deep-water situations. Popular targets include snapper, kingfish, kahawai, trevally, gurnard, and john dory.

Choosing the Right Soft Bait

Jerk Shads: Great for snapper and kingfish when worked with sharp rod lifts.
Paddle Tails: Produce strong vibration and swimming action, ideal for covering water.
Curly Tails: Excellent in slower retrieves and low-light conditions.
Natural Colours: Effective in clear water and bright conditions.
Bright & Glow Colours: Popular for deeper water, murky conditions, and early morning sessions.

Whether you're casting from a boat, kayak, rocks, or shore, quality soft baits can consistently out-fish traditional methods when fish are actively feeding. With proven colours, durable materials, and lifelike action, our soft bait range helps anglers catch more fish throughout the year.

To complete your setup, pair your soft baits with the correct soft bait jig heads, and browse our range of braid fishing lines and fishing leaders for maximum performance.
