Ultralife Salted Pilchards Fishing Bait – 300g

Ultralife Salted Pilchards Fishing Bait – 300g

Ultralife Salted Pilchards Fishing Bait 300g is a naturally oily, strongly scented saltwater bait ideal for surfcasting, rock fishing and boat fishing throughout New Zealand.

Pilchards are one of the most popular fishing baits among Kiwi anglers, prized for their high natural oil content and rich scent that helps attract snapper, kahawai, trevally and other predatory saltwater fish.

The salting process helps preserve the pilchards while firming their flesh, making them easier to handle and improving hook retention compared with softer fresh bait. Their naturally oily flesh releases an attractive scent trail into the water, making them a versatile choice for a wide range of fishing conditions.

Supplied in a convenient 300g pack, Ultralife Salted Pilchards are ideal for shorter fishing trips, surfcasting sessions or anglers wanting a reliable, naturally scented bait without the hassle of handling frozen pilchards.

Fishing Tip

For surfcasting, cut salted pilchards into halves or chunks and secure them to your hook using bait elastic. This helps prevent the bait from slipping during powerful casts and reduces the chance of smaller fish stripping it from the hook.

For straylining, try presenting a larger pilchard section on a suitable hook arrangement to release natural oils and scent into the current.
